CranioSacral Therapy for
Longevity & Seniors
Dementia & Alzeimer's
...a gentle, effective path for memory care, mood, ongoing wellness and prevention...
Research conducted in the past 10 years suggests that an application of CranioSacral techniques may aid in the prevention or reduction of many of the diseases of aging, including
-Alzheimer's and dementia-osteoporosis-autoimmune disease
A variety of conditions that are inflammatory in nature may begin to develop in adults from their 30s onward What may seem like minor issues at first can gain momentum and cause more severe problems and complications as we age.
Clients who receive CranioSacral in the early to mid stages of these diseases show improved health of the central nervous system. The therapy helps to improve the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid and release restrictions in the body and brain that contribute to impairment of cognitive and other function. The resulting unrestricted flow of cerebrospinal fluid helps reduce inflammation and remove harmful toxicity in the brain.
CranioSacral Therapy has been shown to positively affect the functioning of the body by:
-increasing volume of cerebral fluid, which may help:-clearing heavy metals across the blood-brain barrier-protecting the brain from inflammatory processes-enhancinghealth of the neuro-skeletal-muscular-vascular system-enhancing immune and endocrine system function, which may help:-improving the ratio of bone production and reabsorption-improving and promote red blood cell health and platelet production factors-enhancing endocrine and pituitary function-Increasing fluid flow, which may help:-relaxing connective tissue-positively influencing vision and related structures-strengthening connective tissue fluid flow and the character of the skin-increasing oxygen intake and therefore positively impact respiratory function and overall energy-supporting increased muscle elasticity-assisting with neurological balance, which may help:-address deep structures within the central nervous system-stabilizing sleep patterns-improving balance and vestibular control
Michael Morgan, author of The BodyEnergy Longevity Prescription, recommends CranioSacral Therapy minimally every one or two months for people age 60+, "just to maintain health and help prevent any of the diseases of aging from forming in the system."
For people with signs, symptoms or diagnoses of Alzheimer's and dementia, he recommends as much CranioSacral Therapy as possible given available time and budget. This could look like regular short sessions with a massage therapist or trained family members, to three-day intensives, to increase the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and flush out toxins in the brain.
Bodywork, while rarely covered by insurance, is a deductible medical expense with a prescription from a physician.
A client may or may not feel markedly different or show change after one or two sessions, but the touch is nevertheless typically working at the level of cause. Consider the analogy of an iceberg: part of the iceberg is immediately visible, another part of it emerges and submerges with the tides, and the foundation goes deep beneath the surface.
The conditions of many chronic illness of aging have been present for years or decades. The body is in homeostasis and needs multiple sessions to change gears.
